From House Hunting to Home Making

From House Hunting to Home Making

Many of our lovely customers will know that we had been trying to sell our home in Gullane for quite some time and you have been following our ups and downs.  So we decided to share this update with you. A 5 bedroom town house over 3 levels was not going to appeal to everyone! However we love its quirkiness and location so after our second buyer pulled out of the sale, we decided to take it off the market and make it our own.  We moved in when it was brand new 5 years ago, and had done very little to it so we were keen to put our own stamp on the place and introduce some much needed colour and personality!

Before

We had previously painted  a feature wall in this room with Farrow and Ball Stiffkey Blue, but it still felt cold and uninviting.

After

We chose Graham and Brown Wallflower Night Garden paper which has vibrant large floral red and pink blooms on an inky black background.   Earthborn paint colours Secret Room and Deliliah contrast well with this, and we painted both the ceiling and woodwork in the green Secret Room colour.  We carried this through to the ensuite bathroom for a seamless, connected look.

Upcycled Dressing Table

I upcycled this dressing table which was originally cream in black and added new drawer handles which complement the footstool fabric.  I love its kidney shape and ornate detailing.  We also replaced our old bed with a king size oak one we found on Gumtree, along with matching bedside tables.  Those of you who know our shop, know we love to re-use and re-purpose pre-loved items where we can!

Handmade Lampshades

I just had to make new lampshades to match, so these double sided ones, have the wallflower night garden paper on the inside and Oslo pearl fabric on the outside.  I love that the pattern shines through when the light is on!

En-suite Bathroom

We carried this through to the ensuite bathroom for a seamless, connected look.  I found this gorgeous Zebra print on Etsy – the pink bath is the exact same shade as the Deliliah paint!  It makes a great focal point.

Finally we added a basket from Wildfish Crafts.  It's made from recycled t-shirt yarn and is the perfect shade of green!
