From House Hunting to Home Making - The Kitchen

Many of our lovely customers know that last year we tried to sell our new build town house in Gullane without success and you have been following our ups and downs.  We took it off the market and decided to introduce some much needed colour and personality Raspberry Leaf style!  The kitchen was the room we disliked the most as it just didn't work when we had family round.  A large island unit fixed to the wall split the kitchen in two, leaving little room for a dining table.  The utility room directly off the kitchen was rarely used apart from as a "dumping area" for stuff!  We removed the sink and cupboards and replaced with Cotswold Company floor to ceiling wooden storage units and stacked the washing machine and tumble dryer on top of each other.  We now have a workable, well organised utility/Boot Room which is perfect for drying off Poppy after walks!

Back in the kitchen, we took away the fixed island and replaced it with a free standing narrow portable kitchen unit which then gave us plenty of space for a large, upcycled country style dining table.  We can comfortably sit eight round it.

Inspired by Graham and Brown's "Cottage Garden Midnight" floral wallpaper and Joules "Flirty Pheasants" wallpaper we painted the remaining walls in Earthborn's "Balloon Ride" a deep blue shade and chose a vibrant pink to match the pink pheasants!  On the pink wall we added wording that the family say is my catch phrase! Our Monstera plant sits on top of a stunning small round table which has been cleverly upcycled by one of our talented upcyclers and is the perfect pink for the walls.  Finally, we chose ILIV "Florrie Delft" fabric for our Roman Blind - a tiny leaf print pattern on a sky blue background.  We love our new kitchen!
