From House Hunting to Home Making - The Snug

Many of our lovely customers know that last year we tried to sell our new build town house in Gullane without success and you have been following our ups and downs.  We took it off the market and decided to introduce some much needed colour and personality Raspberry Leaf style!   The snug is the second room we decorated.  Like all the other rooms in the house, it was white and felt a bit cold. We wanted to keep an old Laura Ashley settee but it badly needed recovered.  We chose an ILIV fabric, Summit Navy which features a bold zig zag pattern in navy and cream and our upholsterer did an amazing job of this plus he recovered an old blanket box in the same fabric, which now acts as a large coffee table. We also wanted to bring in a bright green upcycled sideboard that some customers may recognise from the shop!  I loved it from the first day I saw it, but Ian took a bit more persuading! However, it now has pride of place in this room and acts as a brilliant storage cupboard for the grandkids toys and as a stand for the TV.  We also have a nest of tables upcycled in purple and gold, painted by another of our clever upcyclers which doubles as a handy plant stand.  The walls, skirting boards and ceiling were painted in Earthborn paint colours - Balloon Ride and Crocky Road. The large floral print wallpaper was a bargain from B & Q and i've also used it to line the inside of the lampshade.  Finally a large gold mirror reflects light back into the room.  We use this room all the time now as it is so cosy!
